Lighting:
Grace Watson

natural lighting - create a weird sense of emptiness. just as there is no sound other than humming, no additional lighting as well at certain parts of the scene will highlight the darkness of the situation; it's not a situation one would one to be involved in... dangerous activities, dodgy.

• the workshop is the location - it is very dark and dim - may use some key lighting to illuminate the characters, especially Zach Parratt (as Scar) to reveal how he has the upper hand in the situation, and can kill the opposite character easily.

second location is the corridor in the school block - here natural lighting will be used to create an image of a dark alleyway/passage that resembles dark activity.

  1. Hi Grace

    Overall Score: 16/20

    Comments:
I am really impressed with the level of detail in your rationale. You have clearly demonstrated that you understand what conventions are used in a thriller and included these effectively in your planning.

Improvements would have been to visually portray your ideas for lighting and even your convention ideas with pictures as given in example in class. Doing a mood board for what you envision is a great way to give us insight into what you plan to do.

Your brainstorm is also not really able to be read. This may be better typed out or perhaps in a better quality version?

Really great layout and detail for your filming schedule. My suggestion would be to allocate a more realistic time allocation for setting up and packing down. Setting up can take 30 - 60 mins, just be aware.

Lighting would have been a really great section to show some examples of effects you are going to try achieve (whether shadows/ key lighting etc) in visual ways with images from movies where they used the lighting you will shoot with.

Technical instructions of 180' Rule, shot-reverse-shot and match-on-action need a little more attention to be able to demonstrate in planning that you understand what they are. It's great you referenced them in the rationale, an explanation of what they are, again, with images to demonstrate where you would have the camera for example, to get the shots keeping the 180' rule, would have made this clear.
