Representation Essay - Crime drama clip ('Breaking Bad')
•
Below are photos of my essay which I wrote on refill in 51 minutes - I am trying to practice under exam conditions in preparation for prelims and externals coming up. This means writing on refill and as quickly as possible. My goal is to get the process down to under 45 mins, and, it seems that I'm not too far off.

A really great attempt at including lots of detail! Well done!
Just a note that you don't need to include which of the 4 tech elements you're referring to each time, in brackets, unless you can weave it into a sentence so it reads a sentence.
It's a really tricky thing to master but to keep the detail BUT in your analysis, think about representational theory, think about wider context of who is being represented and how they're usually represented and thinking about the bigger picture of the context, would be an added bonus of taking these essays to the next level. If it were a gender representation, talking about Laura Mulvey's Male Gaze theory and how women are typically, stereotypically eye candy, the accessory for the men, just something pretty on screen, shots always from a male perspective etc. If you get something on another core group of society, you could include Stuart Hall's reception theory and talk about how stereotypes are reinforced by what we see represented in the media. Here we see the stereotypical young guy who is with a thug, he is washed up and obviously on drugs, buying goods to make something illegal - a real stereotypical representation of a youth (no brains, stupid, can't even break the law successfully, has an adult correct what he is buying and tells him to buy from different stores so he can't be tracked etc..)
All in all a really strong effort! keep that writing as neat as possible so it's easy to read and keep going with trying to finish in the 45 mins :)
